The LEGO Batman Movie Official Annual 2018 |
2017 is almost over but there's no stopping The LEGO Batman Movie in spreading his wings (of awesomeness) through 2018! Need proof? Here's The LEGO Batman Movie Official Annual 2018!
For a brief review on what an annual is, check out my blog post on The LEGO Ninjago Movie Annual 2018 Review.
Just like The LEGO Ninjago Movie annual, The LEGO Batman Movie annual is made for the younger fans, with a recommended age of seven years old and above. As expected, there are a lot of comics, puzzles, and activities as well. The art style is very similar to the The LEGO Ninjago Movie annual that I'm betting the two books share the same artist or the same team. If only he or she or they were credited for the amazing artwork, there wouldn't be a guessing game here. And as I've said, it would have been nice to associate the wonderfully drawn minifigures and brick pieces to the people who have created them.
For the freebie, The LEGO Batman Movie Official Annual 2018 comes with The Penguin. At first, I thought it was an exclusive minifigure because I only have him in The Penguin Arctic Roller [70911]. In that set, he has a scowling face compared to a smiling one in the book. They both don the same black suit with a gray striped stretched vest, accented with a black ascot with purple spots. They also share the same black top hat and black umbrella. Apparently, the happy Penguin is included in the Batcave Break-In [70909] set. So, he's not exclusive after all, just previously expensive-to-find. Thanks to the annual, that is no longer the case.

Overall, The LEGO Batman Movie Official Annual 2018 is a nice kiddie book providing numerous fun activities and strikingly colorful eye-candies. The freebie Penguin minifigure is a good (though not substantive) addition to LEGO Batman's rogues gallery.
